The Inscription of Artaxerxes I is one of several inscriptions in Persepolis located at the Palace of H . The inscription indicates that Achaemenid king Artaxerxes I , like his father Xerxes and also his grandfather Darius the Great , had been adherent of Ahura Mazda.
Translation of the inscription:
‘ who made Artaxerxes king, one king of many, one lord of many.
I am Artaxerxes,, son of Xerxes the King, grandson of Darius, an Achaemenian.
Artaxerxes the Great King says: By the favor of Ahuramazda, this palace Xerxes the King, my father, previously (began to build), afterwards I built (to completion)’
